Communication is Life!

The Department of New Media and Communication, which began admitting students in the 2018-2019 Academic Year, has a young academic staff. In our department, where the field of communication is approached holistically, applied education is incorporated alongside theoretical training. Focusing particularly on the field of new communication technologies, our department ensures that students are guided toward their fields of interest through elective courses. In order to meet the needs of the communication sector and academia, the Department of New Media and Communication has adopted the mission of educating qualified individuals who possess a research spirit, have gained the ability to think critically, and have reached the capacity to follow and interpret social and technological transformations.

The Department of New Media and Communication aims for each student to produce specific media content according to their areas of interest. Writing news, editing TV news, managing newspaper and magazine processes, creating program formats for radio or television, managing the production processes of short films or documentaries, and producing content on social media platforms are some of these objectives. For this purpose, the theoretical courses in the initial years of the education process are supported by applied courses in subsequent years.

Basic Concepts of Journalism, Introduction to Sociology, Media History, Media Literacy, Mass Communication Theories, Social Psychology, Media and Communication Ethics, Communication Law, Persuasion and Perception Management, Communication, Literature, and Philosophy, Basic Concepts of Cinema, Media, Politics, and Culture, Cinema Theories, and Network Society are among our theoretical courses. Some of our applied courses, which our students can choose according to their fields of interest, are as follows: Photography and Visual Culture, Editing Techniques, Digital Media Applications, Copywriting, Camera Shooting Techniques, Screenwriting, Digital Content Production, Short Film Production, and Documentary Directing.
